Gabriel Nelson spent about twenty years as the bassist for Cake. He played on hits like "Never There" and "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" and toured the world with the Sacramento-born band. In 2015, he retired. He did not leave town.

Now he teaches guitar and bass at Kline Music near Land Park, one-on-one lessons in a half-hour format. He says he loves it. He feels fortunate to work with people on music.

The lessons cover everything from reading music to composing to finally nailing that solo you have been trying to learn for years. Stairway to Heaven, if that is your thing. He will walk you through it.
